By jazzgirl1920s' request:

Efim Schachmeister m. sein. Jazz-Symphonie-Orch.: Steamboat Stomp (Dampfer-Black Bottom)

Grammophon 19646 (Mx. No.: 110 be)

Berlin, January 1927

On the label, the composer is given as "Senter", but as far as I know, the tune was written by Jelly Roll Morton.

  • A very interesting version of Jelly Roll Morton's Steamboat Stomp. Thanks. It is always nice to hear any recording made in the 1920's of Jelly Roll Morton tunes.

  • Steamboat Stomp was composed by Boyd Senter 1926. Jelly Roll Morton has recorded the tune with his own Red Hot Peppers same year. Schachmeister recorded arrangement follows the original lead-sheet or stock-arrangement. It shows the genius of Jelly Roll Morton by creating a Jazz Classic out of a wek tune.

  • Another brilliant example of Schachmeister's great skill, thank you!

  • This is indeed great, Stompy...more of similar, please.

  • This is great ! Thanks Stompy !
