Former U.S. senator and ex-presidential hopeful Mike Gravel doesn't believe Iranian Pres. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad really intends to use nuclear devices against Israel.

Gravel, during an appearance on News Talk Online on Paltalk.com, said he believes Ahmadinejad has been misquoted and is just tossing meaningless rhetoric.

He believes the U.S. government threat assessment which concludes Iran has ceased its nuclear weapons ambitions. And he says, even if the program has been ramped up again, it will take six years soonest before they'd have the bomb.

On other issues, Gravel says the president isn't well suited to promote democracy across the globe.

"I don't think George Bush would know a democracy if he saw one," he said.

And as for the men who wish to replace him? Gravel says it doesn't matter whether John McCain or Barack Obama are elected. Because it won't, he says, make one bit if difference.
