2009 pontiac G6 GT Accelerating

Not bad but it's still just the impalas lazy pushrod 3.5L V6 linked to a 4 spd auto. Makes only 200 hp too which is lazy for it's size

I have an '05 G6 GT with the 200 hp 3.5L engine and with the 4 speed theres only certain instances that you feel the need for an extra gear or two, but other than that i really don't mind. It'll take off pretty fast and passes rather quickly. I can also get about 36 mpg on a highway trip, plus I love the stereo and its very comfortable with the leather package! :D

Oh definitely, my 01 Accord has 200 hp and a 4 spd auto as well. I sometimes wish i had the 03-07 model bc it is soo much quicker with 240 hp and a 5 spd auto. The problem with 4 spd is that they are soo widely geared that the transmission drops the engine out of its powerband with each shift. I am a firm believer that 5 spd autos were sufficient, 6 speeds were good too, but i really think 7 and 8 speeds is too much, Im sure the transmission will do a lot of gear hunting with soo many.

The 06-08 impalas 3.5 makes (211hp/214 ftlbs) 09-11 impalas makes ( 214hp/216lftlbs ) all with VVT) and as for lazy not at all dude the only flaw Is the lack of 2 extra gears to really make this car fly come check out my vids and you'll see what I mean !!

sure the widely geared 4 spd makes it even slower, but still just 214 hp in the 09-11 Impala and it weighs around 3600 lbs? Current Accord weighs around 3600 lbs as well but it makes 271 Hp. This G6 was decent tho, however, enterprise just got a bunch of 2010 Fusion V6 and they will rape this G6.

why does everyone seem to beat up on pushrod motors. hell look at cars in the 80's 5.0L v8 and only 145 hp and a 0-60 in 10 sec and then on top of that the MPG is like 13-17. they may not be the best out there but they could be alot worst.

Didn't the 07-09 G6 GTs have 219 or 224hp compared to the 05-06s 200?

@xoquixxoqafxo Haha I know, I like having the RPMs climb then shift then climb again. It is nice hearing different sounds instead of one constant noise.

Well said. CVTs suck. I used to like Nissans until they went all CVTs, I'll still buy an Infiniti since they use 7 spd auto but i really cant stand how when i floor a CVT it sends the engine to the redline and holds it there and all you hear is WAHHHHHHHHHHHH.... lol

@xoquixxoqafxo GM is always behind the times a bit with their cars, SUV's and Trucks are usually pretty good from them though. Yeah the CVTs.... I just don't like them. I would prefer a 5 and 6 speed auto or a manual over a CVT. It's nice that they return good gas mileage but I'll take a hit on gas mileage if I can have fun driving my car.

Yes... i was off by a bit, i think the actual number is 220ish somewhere around there... Still lazy for a 3.5L especially when the Accords is pushing out 271. Thank god this car is dead tho, but the malibu's 3.6L is still off at 252 compared to 270ish for other midsize sedans. I hope manufactures don't go all CVTs since i hate those transmissions with a passion. They are designed for people who just dont care about driving...
