I am a BMW guy, series 5 fan, and I had one of these Volvo´s 850 (a 1993)...damn I loved that car, it was awesome. Only thing didn´t liked was the FWD, but other than that, it was one of the best cars I ever had.

It is. It depends on way more than the seat. How effective the rear crumple zone is, for example. In studies from real accidents, there is a noticeable difference between cars with and without a trailer hitch, even if it is the same type of car. The trailer hitch makes the rear too stiff...

they do?

Removing the seat from the car means the car doesn't get damaged in the test, and a backwards jolt is a backwards jolt.

Yea, they do.

Saab have preety good head restraints as well

I wish they still tested like this... it seems like it would be more accurate.

As I posted the comment, I was thinking that the sear didnt move enough to surely be one with WHIPS. Yes, all seats move in rear crashes, but WHIPS is different. WHIPS causes the seat to move back, and then forward with the passenger to reduce whiplash injuries.
I don't think that this car has WHIPS. - My mistake.
They say volvo has the worlds brst head restraints

They probably do.

And WHIPS helps, of course. Notice the seat move.
