From the shape note tradition of music comes this song based on Revelation chapter 18 which denotes the ultimate victory of good over evil. Written by W.E.Chute in 1878 it is played here as a duet of two bowed dulcimers with a bass in the background. The lyrics appear as the song progresses.

Done in B minor.

  • magnificently played, at last someone who believes in the awesome truths behind that most awesome of hymns plays it with feeling. I don't think the guys & girls who sing it with 'gusto' understand what they sing. The solemness requires a pace like yours. Fills me with awe to contemplate that song as the tune runs. Thank you for uploading this, i want to get our church singing it again.

  • We live in the victory of God when we follow Him and focus on His love. He is there for all of us. Turn to Him in prayer.

  • My the message of this song! How powerful that the final victory of God over evil, of truth over falsehood. Thank you for this wonderful visual and audio delight!

  • I enjoy all your bd pieces, David, and hope to learn some of the tunes.

  • I like it. Nice work, David. Patty

  • Well Done David

The melody is captivating. The lyrics are haunting, reassuring, and leave me with expectation. The bowed dulcimers do well to present the story.

    Dave
