Thanks to the youtube viewers below who identified these Italian-made guitars, a Vox Clubman bass and a Vox Meteor.

THE BEAU BRUMMELS were the first american band to respond to the british invasion, and an original and creative response it was.Check out their two wonderful late 60"s albums TRIANGLE and BRADLEY'S BARN.

I liked this stuff when I was in, I think, 5th grade. Thought they were British (the name, for one, the sound for another). CA band. A couple hits. good memories.

I LOVE THIS BAND. I LOVE THE LEAD SINGERS VOICE.. ITS SO BEAUTIFULLY DARK AND HAUNTING.. THEIR SOUND IS DARK AND HAUNTING. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THEY WERE BRITISH... FROM THE INVASION DAYS.. AND WHEN I FOUND OUT THEY WERE AMERICAN..I WAS SHOCKED..THEY REALLY FOOLED ME... GREAT BAND AND WHETHER THEY ARE BRITISH OR AMERICAN.. IT MATTERS NOT GREAT MUSIC IS GREAT MUSIC.. NO MATTER WHAT COUNTRY THEY ARE FROM. /. I THINK THEY ROCK. / THEY JUST HAVE THEIR OWN SOUND.. DARK/HAUNTING MELODIES.

Great tune! I actually liked the arrangement "The Young Rascals" did on this. It was on their first album.

Has there ever been a song more hauntingly beautiful than this one, and a singer more underrated than Sal Valentino!

i see he is singing live, but do you think they are playing to a pre recorded track? they have no cords, amps...the drums arent really being heard?...any one technical out there, lets hear from you.
olhobbler 5 months ago
@olhobbler, Yes, they're all singing live to their pre-recorded track (boom mics were over their heads just out of camera range). This was quite common on Shindig as well as a lot of other 60's shows.
