Shark baiting - Appâter les requins

- The great white will occasionally bite unfamiliar objects along the surface--including a swimmer or surfer or a cardboard box--to determine whether the object is edible. To test underwater feeding behavior, a hydraulic shark was lowered to swim among real sharks. The fake was ignored until divers pumped blood from its tubing, signaling a wounded animal. That emboldened one great white to take a test bite, then attack full-scale—until it realized the mechanical fish was not food.

Cette initiative eut pour résultat d'enhardir un grand requin blanc qui commença par mordre dedans, avant de s'y attaquer franchement, jusqu'à ce qu'il se rende compte que ce poisson mécanique n'était pas un aliment.
