Coventry 4-10-09 Golden Helmet. With the Dutch leg held earlier in the year over at Emmen, it was Coventry Stadium's turn to hold the second leg on home turf. Defending the Golden Helmet trophy, Ron Kroonder had his work cut out, with so many Coventry regulars around him. Wainman Jnr surges into an early lead, with Kroonder being spun out of contention in Turn1 by World Champion Andy Smith. Wainman Jnr was to survive a bout of Yellow Flags, staying ahead of Andy Smith each time, but eventually succombed to a hard charging Stuart Smith Jnr, after a frantic last few last laps, that saw plenty of Bumperwork and several lead changes.

@v8madnessthatsright the turn one fence really did take some punishment that day I was marshal in the middle of turn one and we had 3 cars come through the fence! The scaryest being H32 Axel Nijs as I was stood by the wires already for another car I just remember thinking shit!! He's not going to stop! did come through far enough to break the dogtrack fence!! That was one exiting weekend!!
