Third episode of The Making of Risen™ 2: Dark Waters concentrates on Animations

Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes today released the third episode of the six part making-of series that will become available over the course of the next months until the release.

In this installment the developers from Piranha Bytes speak about the new animation system that was created for Risen 2:
- Why the old animation system was completely replaced and what that meant for development
- That two to three thousand new animations had to be created especially for Risen 2
- How different combat animations are combined to create a combo attack
- and that Risen 2 features full face animations for the first time in a Piranha Bytes game.

  • awesome. whatever Piranha Bytes creates is awesome.

  • The video is really interesting as a behind-the-scenes document, and you get to see some of the crew behind Risen. As a marketing video; "This is why you should buy our game", it doesn't have anymore value for me; For I already pre-ordered Risen 2. I'm glad to see you are developing the engine (Not forgetting the role of atmosphere, music etc. in creating the ethos of the game) and I were positively surprised by your change for the pirate-theme. Can't wait to set sails upon the world of Risen 2!

  • @Imper041291 I agree, but..I think the Piranhas will take care of the immersion - I think they know that the music was a really big part of the atmosphere in the previous games. They won't let Bastian make uninteresting music. So the music will fit the game but that's nothing special. Kai made a step forward from that - his music was also good without the game itself. Fingers crossed..

  • @Numring Well this is sad. Imo, Gothic 3 soundtracks were the best in the history of game making. I still hope they'll get Kai at least as some kind of quality inspector.

Yeah the most not retarded thing about Arcania was the music. Still, Kai did it better. I just hope for the best.

  • @Imper041291 @XardaZ0ly I'm sorry, but KaiRo won't compose the soundtrack for Risen 2. He is no longer employed at Piranha bytes, even in Risen he made the soundtrack as a freelance artist. Bastian Seelbach is the new composer. I loved Kai's music, but I'm interested in Bastian's style and from what I heard in the first videos and previews, he does a good job. He also did the music for Arcania, which was the best part of the game, in my opinion :D

  • Kai gonna touch my heart with his music.. as always

  • Please say you got Kai Rozenkranz for the soundtrack making. Just.. please.

  • Haters gonna love this game !

  • @xp0980 why are you complainng. it's gonna be cracked in a matter of weeks when it's out.if u want to support PB just buy it on steam afterwards.

  • While I'm waiting, I have already finished Gothic 1 and 2 NoR. It's time for Gohic 3 and Risen :)
