This is 'galloping granny' Val on our family pony 'Nelson' the one eyed Connemara! He has recently gone shoeless (8 weeks before this video) and has a natural barefoot trim. He is ridden with boots on his front feet while he makes the transition from shoes to barefoot. He is ridden in a treeless saddle (Heather Moffat) and Dr Cook bitless bridle. He is very cheeky (and so is Val) and doesnt enjoy 'schooling'-he just stops and refuses to continue. He was diagnosed with aorta-iliac thrombosis 12 months ago so we keep a close eye on him and don't do too much with him, bit he is getting better! These videos were taken during a FUN session so please no comments on riding skill etc! He can be 'behind the leg' and he is encouraged forward by an adapted 'wip-wop'-far more effective and humane than whips/spurs for him (especially in the manege!). Sometimes you just got to have some FUN!
