Recently i received another sword for testing from guys at Swordnarmory.
Name of the sword in question is "Usagi" and it's from their own (Munetoshi) forge.
Here's a short review:
Koshirae are pretty straight forward, iron fuchi/kashira set, with a bamboo theme, brass menuki, white samegawa, black ito and sageo, made out of chemical fiber.
Ito is wrapped in regular hineri maki style, and the wrap is pretty tight, every fold is alternated and hishigami were used so the diamonds look good.
Iron tsuba is very nice,no rough edges that will peel your skin off when you practice like on most production made tsuba, everything is nice and round like it should be.
Saya looks nice from the outside, unfortunately the inside is not carved out very good so the blade gets stuck from time to time during noto, that of course may differ from sword to sword.
Now for the good part, the blade, to say that it's impressive would be an understatement,i currently have around 30-35 production made swords in my possession,at least that many passed through my hands over time, and this is one of the,if not the most active production made blade I have seen so far.
The blade is forged from 1095 carbon steel, with a gorgeous choji midare hamon and tons of nie and ashi, but what impressed me the most was the utsuri,a beautiful mizukage stretches over the whole length of the blade,
this was only the second time in my life that I've seen any kind of utsuri on a production made blade, and for a sword that retails for under 300 dollars i have to say that's pretty impressive.
It's been a very long time since my last cutting session,my form is very sloppy and a lot of my cuts were off,but for such a strong and beefy blade i have to say that it's a very good mat cutter,of course this blade could handle much tougher targets, unfortunately i didn't have any bamboo or wooden dowels lying around,I'll probably do one more cutting session with some tougher targets when i get around to it,for now this will have to do, enjoy..

Hi luka , what is your take on 1095 monosteel forged n heat treated .... Are they as brittle as ppl claim the steel to be ? Especially on harder targets? (5+ tatami / bamboo) thanks

Brittle,i don't think so,all though i didn't cut any hard targets with this blade,i did use a few other 1095 blades for cutting bamboo, and as far as i remember the blades didn't take any damage. In fact my primary hard target cutter is a Dynasty Forge 1095 katana, and that blade is practically indestructible.
