This is the most beautiful music ever composed. I've heard it at least a thousand times.

François was one of the most eccentric and amazing pianist / musicians -- and he pretty much 'owned' Ravel. This recording, both concerti, is still available (budget re-release, folks!). The performances are, all round, just wonderful. Of many fine recorded performances of the Ravel Concerti, these with François are 'archive / definitive.' Thank you so much.

One of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. The opening of the flute is perfect. Thanks to Ravel for this amazing piece.

A friend gave me this LP when she moved. The Bolero side was worn out, but the Concerto side was like new. Years later, while in Paris at the restaurant in Gertrude Stein's old house, my host asked my favorite composer; I replied, "Ravel - but only a French pianist can play him perfectly" (without either of us mentioning Samson Francois by name). My host replied that he used to turn pages for him, and keep him from falling off the bench, so I knew that we were talking of the same person.

Extraordinaire.
