Contemporary comedians all respect Dave cause Dave went out of his way to promote them and their careers like Johnny did to Dave's generation. Leno only cares about himself and is a selfish robot, hence no modern comedians appreciate or respect him.

@allbu849 Funny you mention that about Jon being the rightful succesor after Dave. I feel the same way, but my guess is that the Ed Sullivan theater would be passed on to Craig Ferguson, a great comedian too btw, once Dave decided to hang his boots and hairpiece.

Very good points. The guy acted like literally nothing happened. I think the guy truly has some sort of sociopathic ADD.

And esp. with what has transpired recently. I think its fair to say that alot of 'fans' will realize what Jay is all about.

And Letterman is ALWAYS thaneking the comediens that came before him, especially Johnny.

I much prefer Letterman and think he is indeed the best person on late night.  I just don't think Leno owes him anything is all.

i agree that jay is a "decent guy" but letterman had a show for 10 years before Jay , and should have in my opinion and in johnny carsons opinion taken over the tonight show, dave lost , fair enough but jay never thanked letterman at all for allowing him on his show for all those years or even recognised that dave is a legend! I think jay has done well to become popular and such but clearly letterman is the king of late night

what does Jay have to do with anything? he's a decent guy too but he and Letterman are not only competitors but Jay's a lot older than Stewart.

I hope Jon Stewart will take over The Late Show after Letterman retires. Letterman is a legend.. and no one deserves to replace him... but if there must be one, then Jon is the one.
