By some estimates, Borneo's vast forests are being cleared faster than the Amazon. Unless something is done now, Orang-utans could be extinct in 20 years.

The practice of bulldozing everything to make way for palm oil plantations has left Orang-utans without their customary habitat. "Palm oil is totally destructive. They're cutting down every single tree", complains Lone Droescher-Nieslen from the Orang-utan Survival Foundation. When the forests disappear, Orang-utans cling to any stump in the cleared land, unable to understand their homes are gone. It's left to charities to rescue the apes before the plantation workers kill them. Lone hopes she can rehabilitate the Orang-utans back into the wild. But if the rate of de-forestation continues, there may soon be no forests to release them into.

  • We as a race need to wise up and realise we have not been given the earth to rape and pillage but instead to tend and care for.

    We don't own it.

    We're custodians.

We have a responsibility to nurture it.

    And soon.

  • @kistajk find then, in other words, they are speaking in bahasa indonesia, not bahasa malaysia.

  • @pynqlydz

Unless there's a geotag in this video, no one can pinpoint where this actually happened, but I bet the poster knows more than you.

  • @pynqlydz Funny how I read on the news that Malaysia kept wanting to steal stuffs from indonesia like islands, batik, dance and culture yet when something bad happened there they don't wanna own up to it. There's no such thing as Indonesian Malay, there's Indonesian and Malaysian. That's like saying there is Hongkong Chinese and China Chinese, no, they're called Cantonese and Mandarin (with different dialects).

  • seriously, change the title. it's in indonesia not malaysia.

  • @kistajk kalimantan belongs to Indonesia. there are west, central, south and east kalimantan all belong to Indonesia. p/s: they are talking in Indonesian Malay language, not Malaysian Malay language.

  • @azumizu There are 2 parts of Kalimantan island, the Indonesian and Malaysian parts. This thing happened the Borneo part of Malaysia, thus the title.

  • @kistajk u will only look dumb with that comment. since when Kalimantan is in Malaysia?

  • The title is misleading, its happened in Kalimatan, INDONESIA. NOT Malaysia. We Malaysian are not that stupid to permit that such disgusting orangutan prostitute! Thumbs up so that viewer of this video know and can see that this is misleading title.
