There is a bug listing about this somewhere; I remember reading about it. Something about going back and doing certain sections of character generation - e.g., the questions - repeatedly. Was this character normally generated (no skipping around the char gen sections)?

Getting Ebony Daggers is normal, since they are a reward from the emperor for when you saved him. It's an answer to the "create your own history" startup option in character creation.
As for the elven dagger, you are playing a thief, and the game automatically doles out equipment according to what class you are.
So you got the Ebony dagger from the emperor and the elven one from your class selection.
Though you shouldn't have that many, just two. Did you patch it? that's an old pre-patch bug.

Ya I patched it. When I exit the game it says v1.07.213 213 is the patch if i remember correctly

Unfortunatly that characters save got corrupted somehow.:( I really liked his stats though and thought I rolled em pretty good. My new thief got Lycanthropy today :(. Fortunatly I was able to cure it doing one of those witch quests hehe, but the boosted stats were nice while i had em
