Frankie Gem & Ted Ramerez we're local guys from Galesburg Illinois & Davenport Iowa who recorded for the Fredlo studios in Davenport where they first recorded this record as the by Crystals. They then had USA records in Chicago release this record only crediting Frankie Gem. Frankie and Ted did a lot of local shows around the Eastern Iowa, Western Illinois area in the early 60's where they gave copies of this away at shows from what I was told. All three copies of this 45 (besides a Fredlo accitate by the're original name) that I know of are autographed by Frankie Gem. He had two other releases, My Love on a small label called Ardmore and Loving You on Fredlo.

  • Hello. I spoke to dad and got a little info for you. The Crystals backed Frankie up on side "A", Return To Me. Frankie was not on the "B" side (as my father calls it), Crystal Rock. That was The Crystals alone. My father is the only family member with a copy of the original release by Fredlo, which happens to be the only release that the band was aware of.

  • He still has it? If so then there is another copy on Fredlo. A guy who i know found one in a yard sale or estate sale, not sure which. He found it with another Fredlo acitate by a band called Tripple Tone & The Beats which is an instrumental on one side and a Ballad on the other. It was missing a label on one side.

  • The Tripple Tone 45 was missing the lable that is.

  • This is a lovely hot one! Thanks for sharing.

  • Talked to dad. He THINKS he has the record in a box packed away somewhere. That makes me think that he got rid of it.

  • WOW! I never thought I would hear Crystal Rock on the internet! That is my father, Ted Ramirez and Los Crystiales.

  • you got nice platters! really drivin' one!
