Foster Falls is located atop the South Cumberland Plateau in Marion County, Tennessee. It is the third highest falls east of the Mississippi River. Hiking trails and nature abound in this rural area. The trails rank among the best in the world. From the entrance to the falls, there is an overlook and then a path leading down to the falls and the pool below it. The trail down to the falls is steep and rugged with wooden steps, rocks placed as steps, paths, and tree roots, culminating with a suspension bridge across the creek. There are trails that follow the Fiery Gizzard Creek into Grundy County for smaller falls, more pools of icy water (even in the hottest summer months), wildflowers, and unusual rock formations.
