This video explains why paid parking is the solution to guernsey's transport challenges.
For more than 70 years, most of the developed world has used paid parking to improve congestion, land use, air quality, the economy, and the environment. Transport advocate Adam Greenfield explains why Guernsey deserves not to be left out of the benefits of paid parking.
Note: Transport footage used in this video is NOT of Guernsey, due to my lacking access to such materials.

John, I regretted using USA footage but wasn't on the island at the time to use Gsy footage. This was noted in the video description above. However, I hope that the illustrative footage in question doesn't interfere with the points made in the video.
I will grant you that point. In truth, I need my truck for work too (I work as a mover) so I defiantly understand the distinction. When I said "car", I was thinking of standard commuter vehicles. However, if the trip was for work, paid parking should be tax deductible anyway.
The solution for poor people? SELL YOUR CAR!!! Cars cost thousands of dollars a year - after they are fully paid off. The bus? The entire island is less wide at most points than my bicycle commute to work. I can't understand why a place 5-10 miles across even has buses. Bike or walk and: -You save thousands of dollars -You get exercise and live longer and healthier -You do less ecological damage. Come on. Seriously. You can bike 5 miles.
Yea, Tell that to all the office workers that work in town. They are the ones that cause the most traffic congestion and all around town area. I do a job where I need my van for tools and rubbish clearing, I could not walk, go on a bike or bus to my jobs. On my days off I will walk or sometimes use the bus wherever I am going. If it is raining or need to take or pick up stuff from town I do have to use my van. The buses simply would not allow me to put my kind of stuff on them.
It would be a more meaningful statistic to say the number of adults on the island relative to the number of cars, rather than the total population. According to worldbook, 14% of the population are minors. That means there are nearly as many cars as there are drivers.
