Well, Einstein is very much the father of Modern Physics -infact, of physics at all -he proved that Newton's mechanics is only an approximation- a good one that we still use, but still-approximation. Einstein is the father of all discoveries in physics since 1905. He himself defined the concept of photon, proved the existence of Atoms and qauntom mechanics-and that's only the tip of the iceberg. Hawking achievements and influence on science are not nearly close.
