Doing wheelies in the wind.

Still learning how to do these at very low speeds. There's not really a good place to go to practice them, but you have to work with what you've got.

It wasn't as windy as I would like you to believe, but I it's an excuse.

Anyway, enjoy.

  • I'm getting better at these now and I can ride them a lot longer. I only found the balance point in one of these wheelies but this video was a year ago... Anyway, I'm still not ballsy enough to try standing up on the pegs, that scares the shit outta me. However, I will continue to master these 'easy' wheelies.

i have the same bike with the same mods. i tried doing some wheelies but i still can't really get the front wheel off the ground even pulling the clutch. i pretty much tried what other people have said, so i figured the bike doesn't have enough power for its own weight, but obviously i was wrong since you did it. however, now that i heard dropping the front can be hard on the bike, i may not wanna try it. i wanna sell it in the spring so i don't wanna mess up anything on it lol

Yeah man, it took me a while to work up the confidence. I would literally go out at nigh and find a nice road with no one on it and try to lift it and be out for 45 minutes without any success. When I finally figured out that I could clutch it, it took me a solid month before I was pulling it off more than about 10" so don't be discouraged. The front shocks are fine as long as you letthe bike down slowly with the throttle, jus don't pull the clutch while in the midst of a wheelie!

  • Hey, what kind of bike do you ride? and dos anyone know.. is it possible to wheelie on an 09' kawi ninja 500R ?

  • @buddyru

oh wow....people usually make it sound like it's easy. but now that i've tried it, i believe you, it takes awhile to get it. thanks for the advice. it's gettin too cold out now so i'll probably wait till next season to practice. in the spring i'm planning on selling it anyway and upgrading to an R1, or either a Ducati 848 or BMW s1000RR (assuming i'll have money for that by then lol)

  • you did a really good job for being in the wind i had a zzr as well i think i weigh a lil less than you but the bike will come up on the throttle i found the sweet spot for it is in 1st at 55 just kinda stand up on the pegs blip the throttle and at the same time throw your feet and your pull up on the bars and it will stand right up. and when it comes up you can walk it through first so nicely just be sure not to run out of gear so you can set it down really smoooth so you dont mess up your shok

  • I have an '07 zzr600 and I can pull throttle wheelies in first gear by rolling up to about 9500 rpm and cracking full throttle. To avoid those blown fork issues, never close the throttle hard when you're doing any wheelie; throttle control is always key to setting the front down lightly. And sure, I can get it rolling 30 mph or so, pull in the clutch, rev to about 10,000 and carefully throw the clutch. Only mods are a K&N filter and the UK spec ignition module.

  • Nice! Getting a bigger sprocket "Not too big" also helps. Second gear give you a little more gas play for your balance point, keep up the practice!!!

  • ooooo whos the chick

  • no mods... just minor changes: cut the back fender to make it less noticeable, and put on a yoshi pipe.

unfortunately i can barely lift the bike by just using the throttle. In order to lift it I am having to clutch it.

It took a while to really understand the bike and what it would do when I pulled the clutch, but I feel so much more comfortable with my bike now that I have been riding wheelies.

Just take it slow; don't try too much too soon. And stay out of traffic while doing them.
