Putting halter-bridle on 2 yr. old arabian/percheron. Demonstrates ease of bitting using detachable snaffle bit on halter-bridle. His chewing is typical of youngster who hasn't quite gotten used to having a bit in his mouth. This horse's Natural riding training on the trail at http://portraitswithhorses.com/blog/?p=828

  • Our horse tries to rears when you trie to put the bit in his mouth,

he is ridden in a snaffle, wich we believe is a kind bit.

Hopefully, this might solve the problame.

  • @0Twintig I hope so too. And think of ways to make it pleasant for him, such as coating the bit with molasses or offer him a treat as part of the bridling routine. General groundwork and handling to build respect should help that issue as well. Good luck!

  • that looks a great idea! do you think it would work on an older horse that hates taking the bit? although its tough getting the straps undone ?

  • @giveusafag I think it's very much worth trying. This nylon halter-bridle IS awkward to fasten the straps, but you can get a synthetic (or leather?) one which has small snap hooks to fasten the cheek pieces in, that style is quick and easy. Also try putting honey or molasses on the bit, and be very careful not to knock his teeth. Good luck!

  • I acctually use this way on my little saddlebred and it works wonderfuly, didn't think I'd see someone else using this way

  • @Gallophome30 It worked very well on both our boys.

  • Thats a neat way to introduce a bit, giving you more control, and making it easier on the young horse. Thanks for the idea!

  • @giveusafag Use a bitless briddle

well, atleast shes helping people. not all vids of horses have to be riding, or doing fancy tricks. it can benefit peopel with ground work training

  • people post the dumbest videos... wow... btw i love horses but this videos stupid

  • Wow! That's the same thing I did with the 3 year old I work with. By the 3rd or so try, he just started taking it very easily! Now anything that resembles a bit in any way, even ropes, if I put it near his mouth (on purpose or accident) he just takes it on his own because he wants to! It's nice to see someone else having the same ideas as me for once!

  • thankyou horsepaintings , will try that xx
