Chooral adavi is the festival resembling human sacrifice and is being celebrated with due observances once in every five years in Kurampala Puthenkavil Devi Temple, Pandalam, Kerala, South India
Uprootted rattan plants with thorns is used for this. Devotees uproot these thorny rattan and roll themselves over it and cover the whole body with them. The blood thus sheded is supposed to be offered to the goddes Bhadrakali. Adavi is the diety of a preiest velan during the sanghatime
