Nei Jia Quan master, Niu Sheng Xian

Master Niu was born in Qinghe, in Hebei Province in 1938.
He has been awarded the Level 8 at Martial Arts in China.
Master Niu inherited his family traditional knowledge and since his childhood he was trained by his father Niu Jinbao at the Health Preservation Program of the Taoist Longmen Pai.
Niu started to learn Taiji and the fighting techniques of General Yue (Yue Shi San Shou), Kun Wu swordsmanship, Chun Yang swordsmanship, etc from Master Yang Fengxiang.

From 1959 to 1966, Niu followed Master Li Tian Ji to practise boxing and swordsmanship of Taiji.
The following few years, during the Cultural Revolution, Li Tian Ji stopped teaching.
In 1975, Niu took up his study with Master Li Tian Ji and learned Xingyi Quan, Bagua Zhang, Taiji Quan and Wudang swordsmanship. Master Niu is accomplished in the martial arts of Xingyi, Taiji, Bagua and Wudang Sword.

From 1973 to 1981, Master Niu began his coaching career in Taiji in the Worker's Club of Dongcheng District in Beijing. His team won 3-year championships in Beijing Employee's Martial Arts Competition, from 1979 to 1981.
From 1980 to 1985, Master Niu became the coach of Xingyi in Dongcheng Martial Arts Hall in Beijing; meanwhile he was also engaged as the coach of Xingyi, Bagua and Taiji in Chongwen and Chaoyang Districts.
From 1980 to 1982, Niu took part in the Martial Arts Trial Competition in Beijing and won the Performance Award of Wudang Swordsmanship and Taiji Hands Push-and-pull.

In 1983, Niu won the first place of the featherweight level in Beijing Taiji Trial Competition and joined Beijing Martial Arts Team to participate in the 2nd National Martial Arts and Taiji Hands Push-and-Pull (also called Taiji Tuishou) Competition. He finally won the championship of Taiji events and the first national golden medal of Taiji Hands Push-and-Pull for the Beijing Team.

From 1984 to 1988 and again in 1992, Niu was appointed as the leader and the head coach of Beijing Taiji Hands Push-and-Pull Team.From 1983 to 2004, Master Niu's team attended the Beijing Taiji Hands Push-and-Pull Competitions many times, and won 116 champions out of 132 in total.
In 1998, the book "Health Preservation of Taoism", written by Niu, was published in Guangzhou and has been sold out till now.
In 2003, an article named "You ruined my Taiji" was posted in the martial arts website and got strong responses. The article was criticizing the wrong approach to Taiji by many University Wushu instructors
.In January 2006, Niu, on behalf of Martial Arts Team of Peking University, was invited by Mr. Chen Jian (deputy secretary-general of the U.N.) and Dr. Su Lihuang (World Harmony Foundation) to attend the 2nd World Chinese People Spring Festival Party held in New York.
There, he performed Taiji Quan and Wudang swordsmanship.
He also visited MIT and Columbia University to demonstrate Wudang swordsmanship.
He was also welcome to the U.N. headquarters office building to perform Taiji for senior officials from many countries.
In April 2006, he was appointed Executive Association President of the International Taiji Association by the World Taiji Health Preservation Scientific Federation.
In August 2006, his 55-year-old disciple, Zhang Weizhong, won the competition of Xingyi Hands push-and-pull, of over 90kg level, in Jincheng, in Shanxi province. The aged Zhang defeated his counterpart with overwhelming superiority and resulted in 15:0. After the match, the audience asked Zhang about his Kungfu's origin, and he replied that this Xingyi martial art was inherited from Sun Lutang, through Master Li Tian Ji and Niu Shengxian.
Master Niu's performance has been recorded in the following publications: "China Martial Arts Glossary", "China Martial Arts Encyclopaedia", "China Well-loved Land", "World Outstanding Experts Glossary", "China Martial Arts Personal Name Dictionary", "China: walking towards the World", "21st Century Experts Glossary" etc. Besides, quite a few articles written by Niu were posted on the internet or presented in academic publications.
His exceptional disciples included Ma Jintong, Li Zhonglun, Jin Yuqi, Wang Shumin, Liang Xiuzhen, Wang Xiuqing, Gao Xiaoguang, Zhao Zengtian Zhang Weizhong, Li Hongqiang, Wang Yanji, Ma Shunli, Bao Fengli, Yu Daoping, Gao Xiaoguang, Yu Wenshui, Lai Zhuodong, Guan Jian, Pan Bin, Huang Yeyu, Xu Xianjun, Luo Zhongwen,Wang Yuequn, Sun Liansheng, Ding Zili, Wu Jingxin, Shang Jinhai, Liu Delong, Guo Lianyou, Lv Jingtang, Ou Meicheng, Peng Dongyuan, Deng Chundang, Liu Zuoxin, Huang Yeyu, Zhang Xifan, Zhao Zengtian, Yu Wenshui, Sun Yuqi, Yuan Saibiao, Wang Gengkui, Ti Weifeng, Tan Xikun and his grandson Niu Tianci.
