ps3 yellow then red flashing light

my 4 hours ps3 died on me today :(
i also had 3 red lights of death on xbox 360 before so i guess im cursed or something "whisper:i see red lights!!"
when i turn my ps3 on it goes static green then flashing yellow for 1 second then finally the endless flashing red light "of doom"

I had my ps3 on the day of release
Orange light nearly four years later
Had a gud shelf life considering the abuse it took. I had it soldered a couple of times.
Short fix, now she's birdies in a nice warm box under my baby mommas bed lol.
Upgraded to a Slimline, but sumthing tells me I won't get as long out of it

This happened to me about 30 mins ago after looking through forums I still haven't found a clear solution if anyone knows how to fix this reply! The last thing I want to do is send it to Sony because I'll lose all data and trophies.

my ps3 just turned itself off so i then took all the wire's out and im leaving it for a bit hopefully it will work

same thing happend to me, now i doubt ill ever buy another console again because i also went through 4 xbox360s (pieces of shit) because of red ring of death
