"When darkness is"

"When darkness is at its darkest that is the beginning of all light" - Lao-Tzu.

This is a motion graphics piece I made for the final exam project of my degree. It is a reflexion on the ideas of the constant visual overload that comes with modern city life, and more specificaly, on light pollution and how it prevent us from watching the night sky, that historicaly has awaken human thoughts and questions about spirituality and ideas of the cosmos.

Visually the inspiration came from surrealism and 60's psychodelic visual projections of The Boyle family, which I tried to emulate by manipulating moving liquids footage.

Software: After Effects, 3Ds Max, Premiere, Photoshop.
