I think it's because she needs to be reminded of the beauty in the world, even when such horrible things can happen, and when people can say horrible things.

@Rarzna I'm not really sure about that either, But My guess was that it was just the emotion. Donnie ran after gretchen and tried to comfort her so she probably thought it was a good time. Not sure.

One thing I don't understand: She wants to kiss Donnie at a time when it reminds her how beautiful the world can be, why does she choose to kiss him after they leave class when a guy says something horrible, ('Didn't your dad like stab your mum?') Anyone who can answer this please say :) Cos I tihnk the scene is powerful I just don't understand why yet haha
