Maureen O'Sullivan talking about her Tarzan days. There is also a pretty cool clip of Johnny Weissmuller reflecting on it from the sixties.

According to Esther Williams, Johnny Weismuller had a libido drive that could not be satisfied. Johnny admired his beautiful masculine body and would pester Esther after every swim show . Johnny would drop his loin cloth to show off his manhood. Maureen O' Sullivan had to be a saint to put up with this behavior. In short, "Tarzan" Johnny Weismuller was truly an "ape man" in the literal sense.

Yes. I had NO CLUE it was her until she handed me her credit card. She lived in a lovely, unassuming white colonial house not far from me. Other than locking the gates when Mia visited her, you would never know there was anyone famous there. She was so tiny and kind.

I loved all he Tarzan movies. Especially the ones with Weismuller and Maureen O Sullivan in them. She did a nude swimming scene in the 30's which was very riskay in those days.

I came across Johnny Weismuller's relatives in my travels. They lived in Union N.J.. I also came across James T.Kirk living in Union. He was a mayor of Elizabeth N.J. in the 30's. And when I told his wife that he was captain of the USS Enterprise, a Federation Starship she thought I was nuts.

I used to watch those old movies. But when Johnny was replaced with someone else I just quit watching them. They were not the same Tarzan movies. Seems like all the good movies are fading away.

She had a great career and became one of the grand ladies of films. It's interesting that she started out her career being WET, NAKED & HOT. I'll put her in the Tarzans, against any of these "Sex Sym. today.

The thing that I found so charming was that she introduced herself as though she was an unknown person. So sweet and genuine: again, an experience I will never forget.

What a great story! I would have moved to have met Ms. O, she was a doll.

Johnny Weissmuller was horrified and angry when Williams published those allegations and denied them vehemently to his adult son; he also felt her synchronized swimming had mediocre form (and if anyone would know, he would--he, in fact, coached her). He's not the first person to claim she published fabricated stories. I saw her on a Technicolor documentary making sly innuendos about, if I recall, Lana Turner.
