According to Esther Williams, Johnny Weismuller had a libido drive that could not be satisfied. Johnny admired his beautiful masculine body and would pester Esther after every swim show . Johnny would drop his loin cloth to show off his manhood. Maureen O' Sullivan had to be a saint to put up with this behavior. In short, "Tarzan" Johnny Weismuller was truly an "ape man" in the literal sense.

@Mernerwastaken Yes. I had NO CLUE it was her until she handed me her credit card. She lived in a lovely, unassuming white colonial house not far from me. Other than locking the gates when Mia visited her, you would never know there was anyone famous there. She was so tiny and kind.

@crvcrvcrv1 Weissmuller vehemently denied Esther Williams' allegations; he complained of this to Johnny, Jr. and apparently didn't think much of Miss Williams as a swimmer, either. For some reason, I'm inclined to believe him

Loved Maureen O' Sullivan. I met her once; I was dressing an actor on Broadway and she came backstage after seeing the show to congradulate the performers. I walked out of a dressing room and she said "Hello, my name is Maureen O' Sullivan. Do you think I could say hello to Dina (Merrill) and George(Irving)? " I was so excited to meet her , that I stammered like a fool and she was so sweet and gentle and polite. An experience I will never forget!

I actually own a pair of her gloves :)

She remarried at quite an old age, but the man she married (who has just recently past) was taken care of by my grandmother and she was in charge of recently cleaning out and selling his house. She gave me her gloves and told me to take care them, so I just decided to do some research on her. :)

@crvcrvcrv1 Maureen O'Sullivan said in a interview when told of this, "That she never heard anything like that about Johnny-never. Ever. Frances Gifford his co-star in Tarzan Triumphs said he was "a perfect gentleman".

Acquanetta who was in Tarzan and the Leopard Woman when asked did she enjoy working with him ,said that "Johnny was great,just beautiful.  I read her book too, it had several negative comments about people,who are no longer here to refute!
