@smoke117 actually, he switched to bass when Stu Sutcliffe was kicked out of the band (when they went back to Liverpool from Hamburg), he was the only one who didn't mind playing the bass, George and John didn't want to play bass so Paul took it up.
actually he switched to bass to replace Stuart Sutcliff when they returned from Hamburg, he had often "filled in" for him in Hamburg when Stu did not show up for the gigs,as did Ringo for Pete Best,
Very lacking comment. Paul only played bass in Beatles because they already had two guitarists and he basically picked the bass up and reinvented it for all time. Check out, like EVERY live Wings or Paul McCartney show. He wrote all the tunes on guitar and LOTS of Georges, solos, too!
