if thid guy was confident with his lecture & class then no type of yawn would bother him. Hello mid life crisis. He must be a real joy at home for his wife...or ex wife.

Yawning isn't rude, I agree. The brain says it needs oxygen and send impulses for a large deep breath of air. But that is all it does. It doesn't send signals to produce an extremely loud sound that would can be heard at the front of the lecture hall. The sound is voluntary, uneccessary, and rude. Just like you don't sneeze on other people or cough on other people's food during dinner, there is no excuse to yawn so loudly when some one as important as your prof is giving a lecture. Period.

Exactly, and not everyone even yawns because they are tired or bored of something.

    What did it even mean?

I have no idea why he'd even say that.

Yawning in lectures is something I did regularly and I was asked to leave once, I don't blame the lecturer, I also managed to stop an entire conference in it's tracks while Mike Alfreds from Shared Experience was talking - he looked at me like he wanted to kill me - the entire audience laughed though - I was one of those pain in the arse loser students

Yeah, I would have immediately done it again as soon as he turned his back, just because he was being so pissy.

Your opinion may be true, but, according to this situation, it is totally out of context. Yawning is not necessarily rude; it is a function of the human body just as burping, passing gas, sneezing and blinking are. I bring up blinking out of no where to make a point. If one were to blink in a way that someone took offense to it and flipped out, how ridiculous would that seem? It's absurd that the this prof. reacted in this way over such an occurrence.

LOL, yes, referring to the student in this video alone. I never said it couldnt be a group of students together, as of course only one would be doing at a time. A cell phone ringing doesnt cause laughter, UNLESS its silly. A sneeze doesnt cause laughter, UNLESS it sounded funny. So I wonder what made this particular yawn funny to the students, if they didnt think it was a joke due to prior attempts? You are absolutely clawing from ground here and losing it in the process, try harder.

You said "First off no one implied the yawns came from the same person every time."

Prior to that, you said "So the student was obviously doing it as a joke." "The student" is singular which implies a single individual.

And no, not "obviously." Not all loud sounds cause laughter. A cell phone ringing does not cause laughter unless it is a silly ringtone. A sneeze doesn't elicit laughter.

He made it clear it was frequent but there are less aggravated methods of demonstrating his frustration.

First off no one implied the yawns came from the same person every time. Obviously anything loud during a lecture will cause laughter, this isnt exclusive to any level of school so a first grader would agree. Theres evidence from the professor that it was either a group of students together or a single student on their own. Finally, yawning is a SILENT action, something that does not actually require use of your vocal chords in any way. He made it clear it was frequent, and loud.
