He decided writing books didn't pay well enough so he ripped off a bunch of other authors of the time and created Scientology as a money-making scheeme. And died with a $600M estate in his name. As long as Xenu is recast as not an evil overlord but a kind and benevolent leader who, seeing the woes of the universe, decided to create a free world known as earth to culture the real Utopian society.
