Personally i think all Officers should serve as enlisted for at least 2 yrs or during their classes before they become commissioned, that way when they make it and obtain their commission, they will have an understanding of what the Jr enlisted and NCOs go through and what to keep an eye out for. So many Officers now days have no clue what goes on in the daily life of enlisted...just offers a different perspective is all, well rounded.

Also the Marines have been the most forthright with me when it comes to information pertaining to OCS. They are selective and because of the way their officer program is structured, you have zero commitment to the Marines if you don't pass OCS thus eliminating the bullshit generally found with recruiters trying to sign you. I have spoken with each and every branch of the military and that's what I have found so far, shoot me a message if you get a chance if you want to know anything else.
Hey man how does NG OCS work? Do you have to enlist first then go to OCS if you are a college grad or do you go to OCS first and then decide if you wish to take your commission? I have heard so many different stories from recruiters my head is spinning. Thanks for whatever help you can provide!

Enlisted first, but you can go OCS straight from basic. Need minimum 60 college creds to enroll, 90 to graduate. Yes, you can take a certificate instead of a commission (only good for 18 mos after graduation). OCS is roughly 18 months of wknd drills including two 2-wk AT periods. Don't let our videos fool you; OCS is tough. Many dropouts. Good training though.
