Rosalie Sorrels made a friend for life over 30 years ago when she shared some pitchers of beer in a bar on Baily Avenue during a snowstorm in Buffalo, New York. Rosalie had just finished playing a gig at The University of Buffalo under the auspices of Judy Castanza who booked the Folk Music. Two fabulous women and a bar full of College kids. Who wouldn't be impressed? I sure as hell was.
This song "Rock Me To Sleep" was written by U. Utah Phillips, Rosalie's musical male counterpart and equal. May you discover them both. This recording is from Rosalie's 1971 release on Sire Records, a division of Polydor with cover notes written by Hunter S. Thompson. I told you Rosalie was cool.

She really is a singer songwriter but she doesn't like to admit her tremendous talent. Genius men and women are often burdened by such crazy ideas. Do they not feel worthy? No, it is because they are still humble when so few people are. By the time they make a movie about this wonderful woman it may be to late. I am waiting, while the clock ticks.
really good music....just listen to my music pls....and comment

Rosalie had a reputation for making a great Mexican feast which she did on several occasions at Lena Spencer's house when she was in Saratoga Springs. I was living at Wildflower headquarters with the GV of the GSW (Bruce Phillips) and others. She could also drink me under the table. Thanks Rosalie for that great party in Denver hanging out with you, Shel Silverstein and Jerry Jeff Walker, singing and playing all night. Great memories!

My (ex)wife and Rosalie are close friends now for some 40 years. Rosalie was at our home when our son was born. She sang and soothed my lady through this and my eyes still water now, more than thirty years later. Rosalie has not had an easy life.
