Hot Dog: The Movie (Mitch Ryder Montage)

Classic early 80's party/ski flick featuring the first single from Mitch Ryder's 1983 "comeback" album, Never Kick A Sleeping Dog. It's actually a cover of a Prince song from 1980 called "When You Were Mine" (I know, it sounds like I'm making this up). The album was produced by John Mellencamp and basically flopped. I really don't understand why. This is a great song. And this movie, which was hugely successful, should have made it a hit.

Also, this is the cheesiest movie of all time, yet I've watched it more times than I can count. Sad, huh?

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing but respect for Prince. And I love his voice. He wrote an awesome song here. But this group makes this song even better.

This song is great, Mitch Ryder is great, the movie is kind of stupid, but funny in an immature way, and the rest of the music in the movie is some of the worst 80s garbage I have ever heard! The movie takes place in Squaw Valley, and it is a real place, and the most awesome place to ski or snowboard in the world as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for posting this video!!!

@robertxmagnum Yeah, i grew up skiing in the late 70's / 80's.......I remember the lift-tickets being $12.00 (Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon). Now I bring a condom with me when I go up to the ticket window. They ask what I'm doing with the condom, and I simply tell them, "Well I'm about to get screwed, so I like to practice safe sex. Do you have any lube so it takes a little of the sting out of it?"

I loved skiing in the early 80s.Lift ticket prices were so much cheaper.Now you get reamed by all of the resorts.

Song charted at #87. I wish somebody would upload the MTV video for this song. I remember it. He was driving around in a 69-70 Pontiac Bonneville convertible. Kitten Navidad makes an appearance. I prefer the Mitch Ryder version. Cyndi Lauper also has a version.
