Paul Ince was a hero at Inter. Chris Waddle at Marseille. I agree that an average Spanish or Italian is far superior to an average English one, but the best of each measure close. Paul Scholes is as naturally talented as any Euro player over the last 15 years. Lampard has scored more goals in total than any other active midfielder, including Ballack.

PS, A bit harsh calling Stevie Mac a failure. Scored some vital goals against Barca in euro semi and Valencia in the final.

Possibly the most important England goal since 1966. If we'd of gone to penalties and then got knocked out, can you imagine ? Dumped out by Belgium in the last 16 ? All the good that came out of Italia 90 would have been lost.

@TheLEgendFamily: no mate at mkkm7 and his ridiculous comment "Honestly, English players have no technique at all." Was at Chelsea Blackburn yesterday and if Joe Cole has no skill then it'd be hard to say any player in world has skill!

remember john aldridge(sociedad) or gary lineker{barca) failures???technically the two best players to ever play in spain were both northern european - cruyff and laudrup and that is *ucking fact and anyone who knows anything about football knows i am correct.
the 2 current best players in esp are probably messi and ronaldo, then ibra and henry - messi has been outstanding for 3 years but so was lee sharpe!!!henrys technique was honed in epl as ronaldo and ibras scandinavian. kaka a new arrival

with all due respect mkkm7, why dont you watch football for another 10 - 15 years and then give us your opinions because you are simply clueless - the whole point of your argument is that technique matters, and it does - along with other qualities; but technique isnt an exclusive club for latins - they have a different approach to the game thats all and thats fine because this part of the world will always throw up a george best - better than any iberian player EVER!!!

"think of torres, fabrega or alonso who are secondary in spain" -what the *uck are you on about !!!!!!barca or madrid would take them at the drop of a hat.
albert luque was success at mallorca and flopped at newcastle - and marcelino; forlan was useless at utd and then got the pichichi - raul never moved from madrid because he knew he'd be found out and puyol who is regarded as one of the best defenders in la liga is technically useless - but the catalans dont mind .

by the ways rooney and gerrard would WALK onto the current esp team as would ashley cole, r ferdinand, terry as spain have poor defence.you also mentioned esp players success in epl but so many failures too. f torres is successful because he's actually a very unspanish player he's more like klinsmann or van basten than raul or butragueno.

this game works in cycles - you have torres and villa who are class- not long it was julius salinas. la liga owes most of its success to foreign players and for lot longer than epl - going back as far as di stefano and puskas. italy , argy, brazil, ger, france are all crap at moment and this is main reason for current esp success because traditionally spain havent got the balls to go the distance.iniesta and xavi are no better than caminero or L enrique but they were up against tougher teams
