Learn the basics of how to tie a knots that are important to tree climbing, including the 5/3 Blake's Hitch, aka Magic Knot, with Adrian Sasine (M.B.A. '03).
Wow, that seems complicated for retieing in a tree. I climbed for over 4 years, and for the biner, we used a figure 8 or noose, and only a 2/1 wrap of your "magic knot". The 2/1 wrap can be easily untied and tied with one hand, and is plenty safe.
