Golden Boulder entered the Battle of The Bands sponsored by Nevada Music and Havant College in March 2010. A great night ending with a 'pitch invasion' by many bands members... just must be seen!
**(Apologies to anyone offended by the 'Rage wording' at the end - but it was played on the BBC after all!)**
Determined to play their own music despite many bands playing covers, all the presentations were great, and it was a good night for all concerned.
There were six bands in the final and Golden Boulder were getting a bit concerned when their only supporters had to leave to catch the last train home (a Wednesday night isn't the easiest for a late gig!!).
They held their breath when it cam to the voting, yes they could have played any of 100 cover numbers, but wanted to make The Wedgewood Rooms Portsmouth a night of Golden Boulder own material... until the encore!
Yes they were lucky enough to be voted best band, receiving a voucher from the sponsors, and then enjoying a rendition of Rage Against The Machine's best known number Killing In The Name to mark the conviction they had on the night!
It went down really well, and indeed members of some of the other bands joined them on stage part way through the encore. Thank you everyone that came along and voted - hope we meet you again at a good gig soon!
You'd never know it but Nick Schlanek (Bass/Vocal) was extremely unwell with a voice like a coughing horse before they went on, but he pulled all the stops out for the set. Chris too had a bit of a throat that day - but the show goes on...

@MeTaLMoNkEyLeYrOy Bass player Nick goes there. Can't tell you beyond he enjoys it. Don't think he's majoring in music either.
