10/22/07: Turtles of Hanauma Bay, Oahu, Hawaii

Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay State Park in Oahu, Hawaii. Throughout the day I spotted about 6-7 turtles swimming around. Most of them were rather small compared to ones I saw offshore.

Here are a few of my videos, including a rare TURTLE FIGHT, where one turtle chased another one out from under a rock and started biting at its fins! amazing!

Awesome! I was in Hanauma Bay in September 2007 and didn't get the opportunity to see ANY turtles :(

thanks. you really have to go out to the far edges and be patient to see them... the longer i waited the more popped out all over the place.

lucky! when i went there, i didn't see any!

apparently the trick is to know which parts of the bay to look in. i was out for about 45 minutes and only saw one, then i asked one of the volunteer guys and he told me the better areas (further out past the breakers towards the sides)

i was out there for 3 hours and looked all over.i only saw one from the top as i was walking up from teh bay. no fair lol
