Danny Hernandez & The Ones were one of the best Lansing, MI bands EVER!
This song is an amazing soul ballad. It was later picked-up by Motown Records, who
didn't promote the single, and it was (criminally) ignored.
Enjoy this gem.

  • none of these photos are the original band who recorded this. Missing the Nicholoff brothers who started the group and wrote the song.

  • @cathyjoestrada thanks I will bring that name up did you know any other members or are familiar with any other Lansing area bands? C

  • @rodney49342 i think it was Art Phelps.

  • @cathyjoestrada Are you Cathy Boudine? We went to school together. I´m Tom Cupas. Do you remember me?

  • @dhersey2 I played and was a friend of your fathers. We played in the coffee house blues. In fact he came down to Panama with me back in 1973. How is he? I lost contact with him. Anychance of contacting him?

  • The Original Ones were from the Colonial Village area in South Lansing. Twins Kevin and Kerry Nicholoff along with Mark Boomershine on Drums. Can't remember the original lead singer.

Can anyone help me or correct me if I am wrong.

I was from the same neighborhood and new them very well and have been in a number of arguments lately who the original ones actually were, - Thanks

  • omg been searchin 4 this since frankie the dj in jackson hieghts, queens nyc played n played n spun this rare r n b record nighty in 73-74

  • I have a picture of the original Ones with the Nicholoff brothers. I can email it if you'd like it. The Ones were the first white band signed by Motown. Kerry Nicholoff plays guitar now (played organ with Ones). He's a very skilled player and song writer.

  • @cathyjoestrada, He was certainly a talented musician, I am not sure how much you stayed in touch with him over the years but he eventually opened a couple business, one being a studio, and taught music for a living! I guess with us kids running around it was more difficult to live the whole "band" lifestyle or I am sure he would have kept rockin' out on stage.

  • @dhersey2 I knew your dad very well. We were together off and on through Jr. High til he moved to Holt. He was so far ahead of the rest of us as far as music was concerned. I have the 45 the Coffeehouse blues did also. Just know how to play it anymore?
