Taken Sept. 6th, 2008 this EB CSX coal drag is rolling through Rowlesburg, WV approaching M & K Jct like it has for the last 150 years. These cars will end up at a PEPCO generating station in Maryland. Note the horn as it echoes through the valley.

  • The other interesting thing to note at this location is that it used to be double track. The Great West Virginia Flood of 1985 wiped out the bridge across the Cheat River, and when CSX rebuilt the line, they replaced it with a single track bridge and part of the grade heading west is single track. I was standing at this location in 1985 just after the flood - the damage was unbelievable.

  • Not quite true....PEPCO doesn't own any generating stations. They sold them all to Mirant Corp in 2001....Chalk Point, Morgantown, Dickerson, Potomac River....every last one of them are now owned by Mirant. PEPCO is just a wires company, they don't own any generating plants anymore.

  • Holly shit thats a loud horn

  • great! There's not too much better than a coal train early in the cool morning.
