This is beautiful, and the organist rules both physically and musically.

Nice organ playing and a good job by the choir. I'm an American and lived in the Philippines for 9 years during Vietnam era. I maried a Filipina 30 years ago and now we live in the Philadelphia area. We both sing in a Filipino choir and do this song every sinulog. do a search for Sto. Nino de Cebu and you will see what I mean.

that is the tradition at the easter vigil when the gloria is sung the lights are turned

I like when the choir sing this in our mass, all the non-filipinos have a odd reaction to this song because they aren't filipino, but god loves us all :D

@ameng316 I know he looks like him, but trust me it is not. He is actually the one who is in charge of that choir. If I remember correctly, I believe his name is 'Jonathan'. The man conducting in this vid is his assistant conductor.

Oh my, were you the organist for the Easter vigil? The organ music and the choir were just fantastic! I'm from Malaysia where even electric organs in churches have been unfortunately phased out for pianos, but the mass at the Manila Cathedral was solemn and holy yet appropriately grand -- and it was partly because of the pipe organ that you played brilliantly. It was my first Easter in the Philippines --with that mass being the most memorable of my entire stay.

Hi Junen82, thank you for your kind comment, to answer your question, YES I was the organist for the Easter Vigil, March 22, 2008 at Manila Cathedral. I am from Hawaii, USA, and I hope to move to Manila, Philippines in the near future and hopefully the powers to be permit me to be a regular/resident organist at the Manila Cathedral. How many rows from the altar were you seated? God Bless, steelersfanhawaii.

Maganda yung effect na madilim muna tapos biglang liliwanag. Nice rendition :)

my dear friend, this was the first time I was in the Philippines, in fact first time ever outside USA. I love the Philippines so much that I plan to move there. I LOVE YOUR COUNTRY!!! I was in total awe and humbled by the opportunity to play this gigantic pipe organ. With Papuri Sa Diyos, I must say I first saw the music score only a few days prior to playing it. From other youtube postings there is alot more rythm I missed, but since short notice, I only used standard hymn playing technique.
