I can throw some light on this. It wasn't Jools who interviewed him - it was me. I had pestered the researchers on the programme for ages to let me do a special on Marc. When Ringo agreed to take part they finally agreed. I'm very proud of the fact that it was the first major Bolan tribute since his death 6 years earlier. I tell the complete story of the Ringo interview, Visconti, Peel and dear Mickey on my website. I have a VHS copy of it but that's all sadly. Gary James - Tube co-presenter

Great to hear the great man. For me T.Rex peak was the Electric Warrior album. Always remember the pics of Micky and Marc looking very much alike and spinning around on the vinyl label. Great great album.

Mickey was totally underrated as a clay drum player in early days. On top of that his congas were essential to the electric sound too.
