Willie Revillame - The Jerry Springer and Maury Povich of the Philippines

There is no doubt tabloid talk show in the US is a big money making business. You have the so-called masses following such shows in their quest to prove they are better off or just to have a cheap laugh at the miseries of others.

The Jerry Springer Show completely revamped the format of the show to what it is now just to stay in business. It focuses on infidelity and other sensational material that would surely result in a physical confrontation of their guests.

The Maury Show is similar in format. The segment on "Who's My Baby's Daddy?" made the show famous by focusing on mothers who go through shameful experience in trying to identify the father of their child after making out with several men.

Jobert Sucaldito has disagreed with the selection of similar material for the Wowowee show. He pointed out that sensationalizing such type of material would have a negative effect on the youth, as well as on the viewers. Which viewers? They are mainly the viewers of TFC or The Filipino Channel.

Is ABS-CBN ready to take that route and turn Wowowee into a tabloid show? It was apparent it was going that direction under the leadership of the righteous Willie Revillame.

Changing television station is easy, but hard when there are only two choices that connect you back home. ABS-CBN should be sensitive to the geopolitical situation of its TFC viewers.

A tabloid Wowowee show would in effect give credence to such derogatory comments made by Alec Balwin, Teri Hatcher and others about the Filipinos and the Philippines.

Filipino dignity or millions of revenue?

That was the ultimatum of Willie Revillame to the management of ABS-CBN and its viewers.

Which one would it be, Kapamilya?

ABS-CBN has made a decision to stand proud with the Filipino people.

Thank you Kapamilya, for making us proud of our Filipino heritage!
