Please click the "watch in HD" link below the video for the *best* quality, or add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL in your address bar and hit Enter, for the high quality version.

This is a compilation of video clips showing animated objects in the Birmingham Cross-City South v1.4 and Watford Junction to Rugby routes being developed at http://railsimroutes.co.uk, for the licence-free openBVE simulator, in development at http://openbve.trainsimcentral.co.uk

These routes are still in development, therefore some features shown are unfinished and subject to change or improvement; the most recent developments are featured first.

Animated features include pantograph sparking, vegetation swaying in the breeze and appearing to be disturbed by passing train turbulence, falling autumn leaves, animated birds and butterflies, working flashing aspects, animated pointwork (cosmetic only), animated people (early stages of work shown), passing trains (may not be included in the final release of the route), moving water, and swaying cables. The rainfall will hopefully be a built-in feature of future versions of openBVE rather than a scenery element as implemented here, and it may not feature in the final release of the route.

To find out more about the openBVE project, and the animated object format, please visit the official homepage and forum at http://openbve.trainsimcentral.co.uk

For more information and to keep up-to-date with the development of these two routes, please visit http://www.railsimroutes.net/blog/

  • You just being honest redo the 323 sounds and make it sound more real :)

  • @badboiant29 Steve Green and I tried to create some more realistic traction motor sounds a few years go, but we found it really difficult to get sound samples which were any good. I would like to try again at improving the motor sounds, maybe even synthesising them if I can't get hold of some suitable samples. :-)

  • yano if the train i was getin on made that many sparks i wud wait for the next one lol. anywhos, great work anthony

  • @urban8fxs: Thanks. :) The sparks are overdone for dramatic effect. I'd watched a few YouTube videos of pantograph sparking previously which were pretty impressive, but then again the wires were probably covered in ice which caused excessive sparking in those cases. Not sure whether or not I'm going to tone down the effect in the final release yet...

  • id quite like the train you featured here with the external views, is there anywhere I can get it? would really appreciate being able to use a centro train with external views cos this sim is just WOW!

  • @gizmo198126: The 323 shown in this video can be downloaded from trainsimcentral (look for the openBVE Beta version)

The new high detail version shown in my most recent video will be released along with X-City South v1.4 when it's ready. :)

  • @djads

Is it the naked midget on the 4th floor of the 2nd building?

    (give us a hint)

  • You did an excellent job of capturing some of the best elements of openBVE.

I am an old MSTS fan but I have been too busy to do much SIMing.

I am at a point now where I think I will download openBVE and start the process of getting the trains and routes I want.

Can anyone recommend the best "Starter Kit" for someone who really loves Trains?

    PM me if you want.

My Computer will handle almost anything I throw at it so the sky is the limit.

  • are you still working on this great Open BVE add on? and when will it be realeased?

  • @djads your wrong, Railworks is a fantastic game now if you actually look at it you just need a fucking COMPUTER that can actually RUN a simulator. Although openbve is nice but i need to practice train driving so im sticking to railworks

  • I mean really ALL OF THIS is just AMAZING its free and you spent your spare time just to do this and i mean now today its amazing. With the 3d cab and interior and the watford to rugby junction.

But... not to spoil the game or any peoples feelings but the class 323 traction motor sound sounds rather unaccurate. The motor sounds a bit more louder and more noise parts. Yours... welll..... isnt sos. But try and do the traction sound a bit better but other than that i LOVE YOU!

  • @railsimroutes I can sure get some for you! There are plenty LM 323's down here so ill try and get you some!

  • JUST SO AMAZING !! CAN'T WAIT !!!

  • Супер,супер!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
