Written by Strummer as a commentary on the current state of British politics, and deliberately adapts the melody of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home," written during the American Civil War by an Irish-born Union supporter, who, in turn, derived it from an Irish anti-war song called "Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye."

Personnel:

Joe Strummer: g, v
Mick Jones: g, v
