CSN, or to be more precise, David Crosby on his own. I really love the naïve lyrics and his feeling, be it live or studio. Don't sing it too often though cause the tunings are a pain where you know when you only have one guitar... By the way, the tuning is DGDDAD, but I always tune my guitar a semitone down, so don't be surprised if you try that at home and think it sounds strange.

  • Absolutely wonderful job. I'm writing, however, to disagree with some comments below. My comment is given with respect and admiration. I think you need a better guitar. I know the recording process and computer speakers can greatly influence the sound, but your git sounds more like a toy to me than a well built instrument (a dred with rosewood back and sides and a solid spruce top?). Your music (better than mine) deserves a really well made guitar.

    Performance: five stars

  • Actually, I've bought myself a 1968 Martin 0-18, and, yeah, you're right, it sounds much better than my Jasmine!

  • holy shit what kind of guitar is that -- the tone is amazing.

  • Hi, for those who've been asking (and I must admit, I wasn't expecting that one...) my 'incredible' guitar is 'Jasmine' by 'Takamine', which translates into a crappy guitar when you come to think of it... However, after 10 years of intensive playing, I must confess it's become quite honourable and sounds much more to my liking that legions of much more expensive guitars that I had the occasion to try over the last few years, so you never know!

  • Good work, mate! Nice fourish at the end. Solo sounds great, but I'd love to hear you with a good pedal steel player. "If I Could Only Remember My Name" - great album.

  • Thanks a lot. Feel free to download the vid and to add some pedal steel cause I do agree with you, it'd sound great!

  • Great job, buddy.

Too bad I wasn't making a video showing me grinning from ear to ear during the whole thing...

    : ))

  • Awesome job! I think that people people are mistaking the unique tone of the chords produced by this tuning for the tone of the guitar. So, can we talk you into an encore on your D-18?

  • Thank You

  • Thanks for a nice rendition of this classic. Tricky to play and sing at the same time, but you nailed it. ps: Glad you got a Martin ;-)

  • @Niquk yes, dgddad (in case you didn't confirm yet).

  • i thought this was really good

  • Totally dig it. Bravo!

  • the tuning is DGDDAD, right? i was listening to nick drake and found the song Road that has that tuning. ive never seen it before and thought id find more songs in that tuning.

  • @hierlesim maybe "in your mind" you should consider an alternative term." NAIVE-unaffectedly or foolishly; artless; unsophisticated. "{Webster} i accept your point about "filling in the meaning" after all that is what we do with art. i just felt that naive has too many negative connotations and it seems Webster agrees. i hope that makes my comment more acceptable to you.

  • Yes, the guitar is good... but the player is good too! Wonderful interpretation man... rock on.
