  • The transmission of the M5 is an MANUAL transmission electronicly clutched. It is not an AUTOMATIC one like others. It's from F1 transmissions. Totally different.

  • Not the same. Your SRT8 tip has a torque converter so its an automatic. SMG is a manual transmission with a hydraulic powered clutch that shifts the gears.

  • Bah, I hate the shifting sound :/

  • Fantastic Lambo Exaust Sound!

  • @platnum12

The simple word for it is "Transmition". However, there are multiple types of gearboxes: Manual (human shifts, one clutch), Sequential Manual (one clutch, human controlled computer shifts), Dual-clutch Transmition (Two clutches, human controlled computer shifts), automatic (slushbox, torque converter, no clutch, computer controlled) - tiptronic/steptronic is automatic but has a human controlled mode, keeping slushbox, torque converter and all the automatic crap.

  • @SkywalkerTibor well yeah if you say it that way

  • @QcTom101 To be totally exact, this type of transmissions are called 'robotized transmissions" because not only the clutches of them are electronically controlled but so are the gearboxes themselves. Though you may shift by hands but you actually handle only electric switches. So, this is not a manual one just something like that.

  • None of M5's has Valvetronic.

  • lets get to the point its not an automatic not a manual but a SEMI AUTO gearbox full fucking stop.

  • @justincrap road and track magazine managed to get 3.8

  • @tadhgbrosnan No its not an automatic! You still have to change gear with paddles, unless you wanna drive round in first gear. The only thing you don't have to do is press a clutch pedal. Why is this so hard to understand, its not an automatic.
