Full description of pros and cons of the HP dv7t select series edition:

Pros:
• The i5 & 8GB RAM makes for a great performing system along with the great overall performance of Microsoft Windows 7 for a fast and fun computer experience.
• Simple pass finger print reader is very responsive and makes your favorite sites you log into a lot a breeze to log into and it's safe and a securer way.
• The dark umber metallic aluminum finish is simply beautiful and quite stylish. It's durable and makes a statement for certain, but it is a FINGER PRINT LOVER so you much wipe it often.
• The 17.3 in HD+ Brightview screen is very clear and crisp and a joy to view anything on.
• HP Cool Sense technology is really a powerful tool that's quite effective for keeping your machine cool, especially when you're running heavy apps or multi-tasking.
• Beats audio software really makes listening to music and watching movies seem like a movie theater experience right from a smaller package.
• The numbers pad is a nice added thing for the keyboard.
• Dual headphone jacks
• 4 USB ports and 2 of which are USB 3.0 ports which is great for faster transfers if you're moving large files around from an external drive.
• The placement of the vents so you don't have to worry about blocking air flow like you do on other laptops.

Cons [Not really bad cons though]:
• No backlit keyboard. For this level of a laptop, it would have been nice to have this added, but it's something you can live without.
• Trackpad - Even though I rarely use it unless I'm away from my desk, a matte finish would have been a bit better than the glassy type finish.
• Multi-gestures isn't the best responsive on this laptop for when you're scrolling, but it works sometimes. Could really be improved though.
• CD drive isn't all that perfectly built, but it's still works like it should.
• Brushed Aluminum - This computer, because of the metal finish and it being ENTIRELY black or dark umber... FINGER PRINTS AND DUST IS A HUGE ISSUE! Lol! I literally have to clean my computer through out everyday. It was a pain, but I've become so use to it that it doesn't bother me now. PLEASE BUY SCREEN CLEANER FOR THIS COMPUTER and keep a cloth in your computer bag to keep the prints to a minimum over the laptop as well.

There are people who've gotten lemon's of this particular notebook, which does happen, but overall this actually is a high performing laptop that lives up to what it's mean't to be... a high performance level notebook. It's not a budget option, especially when customized so you're paying for a lot that is worth it. I'm happy with this notebook and hope to have it for the next 4 years! (= My old HP desktop I had was about 9 years old running Windows 98 [Upgraded from Windows 95] so HP has been good to me, just like their printers.

    Customer Reviews:

I accidently ordered this computer thinking that it was a different one. However, after using it for awhile I have come to love this laptop. First off I wanted to say that this machine is very quick as it can play some of the latest games at almost high settings, like Assassins Creed and Burnout Paradise. I am not a big gamer, but there ...
