This video is something of a retrospective that I made for Skyward Sword's announcement at E3 2010, covering the entire series up until Spirit Tracks. Since it's a retrospective, there are spoilers - specifically many of the final boss fights.

E3 2010 Update: I know it's a bit late now, but Skyward Sword looks awesome! I'm so happy to see Celda finally make its way back to console games.

Someone way back when asked me to make a Zelda video using more than one game, so I decided to make this one as a tribute to today's unveiling of Zelda Wii. Really, my only concern is that the new game will end up being too similar to Twilight Princess, instead of something with a more original art direction and atmosphere. Then again, it's Nintendo, and there's no one better at making Zelda games than them.

My main intention with this video was to create something that showed a lot of memorable characters and moments from the Zelda series, especially things that I ignored in my previous videos. I tried to include some element from every main series entry, though obviously the 2D games are less represented than the 3D ones. The first part of the video focuses more on humorous and nostalgic scenes from the series, then shifting to some more serious parts thanks to the soundtrack's segue into Ganondorf's theme, then returning to some more nostalgia, and finally ending with the main conflicts of the series involving the three bearers of the Triforce. Obviously I couldn't put every great scene from the Zelda series into this video, but that's only because the games are so consistently awesome that there are already too many to count. I also wanted to give this a title other than "E3 2010 Zelda Tribute", so I ended up dubbing it "Hero in Green" - generic and overused, I'm sure, but at least its something.

For the soundtrack, there were two songs that I wanted to use from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but since those tracks just loop into each other I ended up blending the two pieces together. I also used the Master Sword theme from Twilight Princess for the ending, which I'm sure also makes quite clear that I was a huge fan of Spirit Tracks.

As usual, Youtube butchered the sound quality and some clips came out blurrier than others, but I think it's a great video nonetheless. I hope this gets the Zelda fans out there hyped for Zelda Wii.

As usual, enjoy. :)

  • @AnimatorAnatsu Spirit Tracks is awesome, I can't stress that enough. Ghost Zelda is probably the best sidekick Link has ever had, and some of the dungeon puzzles were brilliant. I strongly recommend it to any DS owner, Zelda fan or not.

  • That....Was.......Awsome!

  • @AnimatorAnatsu I dislike Spirit Tracks, and it took me awhile to beat it cause I had to force my way through it. It's really because I didn't like playing it. I'm not a fan of the tap-for-everything gameplay, the story was mediocre at best (it's just the general go kill the badguy that we know nothing about, who has no background that is explained), and the dungeons were short and boring. And as for AOL, that game was an unforgiving bitch, but it was fun XD

  • @AnimatorAnatsu Zelda ll was pretty awesome! I don't consider it a black sheep. And without Zelda ll we wouldn't get Link's moveset in SSB. I think the only bad Zelda games are the CDi games!

  • Hand me a rag, I think theres a red smudge on the like bar.

  • lololololololol

  • Yea

  • @AnimatorAnatsu You're not the only one who thinks that Zelda II sucks. Sidescrolling and leveling isn't for Zelda games D:

  • There's a video that should be on E3 or Video Games Live.

  • Brilliant video

  • i think i know just too much zelda xD

  • thumbs up if you think ocarina of time is the best zelda game.... infact no the BEST GAME OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!
