Part 3 of my vintage .22 rimfire series. This video review is of a 1957 Colt Huntsman .22 automatic pistol.
It uses a 10 shot magazine and was produced from 1955-1977 and is closely related to the Colt Woodsman series.

  • Just got one for free! from a friend cleaned it up real nice but just wanted to say nice video learned some new things about it

  • @BustaNut157 A free gun? AWESOME!

CDNN sells mags for them if you need a few.

  • Just a few words to tell you that an interesting downloadable ebook on this model (technical and historic aspects) is available at HLebooks.com.

  • @HLebooks Thanks! I'll check it out.

  • My grandma gave me her colt woodsman but my dad said i would have to use standard velocity ammo. Would it really matter if i used bulk high velocity 22 ammo thru it? I wouldnt want it to blow up though.

  • @spritrocks The really old ones had non-heat treated mainspring housings that were prone to cracking of hi-vel ammo was used. I forget what year they went to heat treating all the new ones but I think it was in the 1930's or 40's. Google it and see what you come up with but until you know for sure just use standard velocity ammo.

  • @smartguy104 Buy it! (perhaps you already did) I have a ruger MKII and a Browning Buckmark but none of these guns feel like the Colt Huntsman I just aquired. It feels so good in the hand you want to hold it all the time and it's a natural pointer due to the Luget-like inclination of the grip. Great gun to take to the woods to hunt squirrel and rabbits.

  • @3OCALM1 Thank you sir! From the looks of it, I believe I have a 1956. Thank you so much! :)

  • @01TegGSR check your inbox, I sent you a link to a web page with dates of manufacture.

  • My father took me to go shoot my grandfather's huntsman .22 today. Looks just like the one in the video. He gave it to me to hold onto lafter because he knows I collect guns. It was a lot cheaper to shoot at the range then my other guns. lol How did you find the year of yours? I'm curious of what year mine is as I am 28 and it belonged to my grandfather.
